Below steps are enumerated to mask the data; follow them in sequence to apply the security for your files.

On a general note set password for your system account:

Identity and password protection add an added layer of protection as it verifies the user authentication at the very initial level. It provides protection in case your system is shared by many users.

For password protection follow these Steps:

  1. Go to Control Panel and open the user account.
  2. Click on the user tab and then Administrator to create a password and then confirm it again.
  3. Now click on the button Create Password then Ok.

If you want to hide or encrypt any file or folder follow below written steps:

  1. Go to the folder or file you want to encrypt and then click Properties.
  2. Now open the General tab, and then the Advanced button.
  3. Now check the box which belongs to text Encrypt contents to secure data, click on OK button two times.

Follow the same process to decrypt your data. In only third step you need to uncheck the box which belongs to the text Encrypt contents to secure data then click OK two times.

If you want that none else can access your hard drive, follow below written steps:

  1. To see all internal and external devices connected to your computer, perform system search for disk management first and then select the obvious result.
  2. Now right click on the drive you want to hide and select Change Drive Letter and Paths for your particular drive.
  3. A new window will appear on your screen now, click on Remove and Ok to make your drive undiscoverable.

Follow the same steps to make your masked drive discoverable.
