Any of the below mentioned error may display while installing Trend Micro antivirus applications.

These errors may encounter if your computer has got some malware and virus infections. Or there may be some third-party program which conflicting with the Trend Micro installation and reflecting these errors.

There are some instructions written below to resolve this issue:

Step 1: Run an Online Scanner

  • To find and remove any malicious software on your PC download and run an online scanner.

Step 2: Run Disk Cleanup

  • Running Disk Cleanup tool not only removes unnecessary files on your PC, but also speeds up its performance.

Step 3: Check Installed MS Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package

  • Verify that your computer has a compatible Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package installed. Then follow the steps below
  • For Windows XP/Vista/7 (32-bit):

Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)

  • For Windows Vista/7 (64-bit):

Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x64)

Follow the steps below if the issue still persist:

Important Note- It’ll better to bookmark this page or take the print out of this document before proceeding because during the procedure, you will be asked to restart your computer.

  1. Cancel your installation and uninstall Titanium antivirus using the Trend Micro Diagnostic Toolkit. To do so follow either of the steps below:
    • Use the Trend Micro Diagnostic Toolkit from the installer you downloaded:
  2. Open the same folder that was extracted while the installation of Diagnostic Toolkit.
  3. Open the Support Tool folder, then open any of the following folders as per the version of your operating system: 32-bit or 64-bit

Note: Check which version of the Windows Operating system you’re using: 32-bit or 64-bit

  1. Double-click the SupportTool.exe file.
  2. Click the (C) Uninstall tab.
  3. Click 1. Uninstall, then click Uninstall.
  4. Restart your system.
  1. Open the CD and open the Support Tool folder.
  2. Open the Support Tool folder, then open any of the following folders as per the version of your operating system: 32-bit or 64-bit

Note: Check which version of the Windows Operating system you’re using: 32-bit or 64-bit

  1. Double-click the SupportTool.exe file.
  2. Click the (C) Uninstall tab.
  3. Click 1. Uninstall, then click Uninstall.
  4. Restart your machine.
  5. Uninstall the existing Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package in the Control Panel by following the steps below:
    • For Windows XP:
  • Click on the Start Icon, open the Control Panel and select Add or Remove Programs.
  • Choose Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package, then click Remove.
    • For Windows Vista and Windows 7:
  • Open the Start Menu > Control Panel > Programs and Features > Uninstall a program.
  • Choose Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package, then click Uninstall.
  1. Download and install the fresh package of Microsoft Visual C++ from the Microsoft Official site.

Step 4: Verify that Windows Installer Service Is Running

  • Click on the Start Icon and Run or Start Search.
  • Type “services.msc” in typing space provided, and then hit “Enter”.
  • In the new window, look for Windows Installer and make sure the status is Started.
  • Right-click Windows Installer then click Start if Windows installer is not started.

Step 5: Add Full Permission to C:\Windows\Installer

  • Click on the Start Icon and Run or Start Search
  • Type “C:\Windows\” in search bar and then press “Enter”.
  • Press the ALT + T keys on your keyboard.
  • Click on Tools and then select Folder Options.
  • Open the View tab.
  • Click on the option “Show Hidden Files and Folders”, and then click “OK”.
  • Look for the Installer folder, right-click on it then click on Properties.
  • Now click the Security tab.
  • Click on everyone name inside the Group or user names box.
  • Verify that Full Control has check under Allow. Otherwise, click Edit, then mark a check in Full Control under Allow then clicks OK twice.
  • If Everyone is not inside the Group or user names box, follow the following instructions:
  1. Click Edit, and then Add.
  2. On the Enter the object name to select field, type “Everyone”.
  3. Mark Full Control under Allow then click OK thrice.
  • Close C:\Windows folder.

Step 6: Remove Conflicting Third-Party Security Software

  • Open the Start Menu then click on the Control Panel.
  • Follow the following steps:
  1. For Windows XP: Click Add/Remove Programs.
  2. For Windows Vista and 7: Under the Programs section, Click Programs & Features or Uninstall a Program.

Wait for the list to populate, and then find the conflicting program on the list.

  • Now select the conflicting program, and then click Uninstall.

Step 7: Uninstall Trend Micro Titanium and Apply RegKeyFolderPermissionRecover_Tool0001

  • Click Start > Computer.
  • Click on the Local Disk (C:) > Program Files > Trend Micro folder > Titanium.
  • Double-click SupportTool.exe.
  • Click the (C) Uninstall tab.
  • Click 1. Uninstall Software.
  • Click “Yes” to continue. It’ll uninstall your Trend Micro program completely.
  • Now restart your computer.
  • Download Ti_all_win_en_RegKeyFolderPermissionRecover_Tool0001.exe and save it on your desktop location.
  • Double-click Ti_all_win_en_RegKeyFolderPermissionRecover_Tool0001.exe to run it.
  • When the User Account Control window appears, click on the option “Yes” and wait until the process gets complete.
  • Now click “OK” when the Module Update window appears.
  • Reinstall your Trend Micro Titanium program.

Step 8: Reinstall Titanium and Use Permission Tool

  • Clear the temp folder. Follow the steps below:
    • For Windows XP:
  1. Go to Start > Run.
  2. Type “%temp%” on the Open field, and then click “OK”.
  3. Select all files in the folder, then hit Delete button.
    • For Windows Vista and Windows 7:
  4. Click the Start button.
  5. On the Open field, type “%temp%” and then press Enter.
  6. Select all files in the folder, then press Delete.
  • Download Trend Micro software. Click your product below for instructions:
  • Right-click the installer, and then select Properties.
  • Click the General tab.
  • Click Unblock.
  • Click Apply, and then click OK.
  • Run the Permission Tool.

Note: When prompted for a password type “novirus”.

  • Right-click the installer and then select Run as Administrator.

Now you should be able to install your Trend Micro program without any iproblem.
